ND Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

North Dakota administrators, teachers, support staff and entire systems expend a great deal of time and effort trying to do wthe work of school improvement to answer these key questions:

  1. How do we create a system where ALL STUDENTS can be successful?

  2. How do we create a system where ALL TEACHERS can be successful?

  3. How do we create a system where ALL INITIATIVES align to promote                                                                                                                district improvement and success?

  4. How do we create a system where ALL RESOURCES and SUPPORTS are                                                                                              allocated to support these overarching school improvement goals?

NDMTSS is a framework for North Dakota schools to create a system that supports all students academically, behaviorally and social-emotionally. NDMTSS focuses on supporting school personnel in providing high-quality instruction and interventions matched to student need, monitoring progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals. Data are used to allocate resources to improve student learning and support staff implementation of effective practices.  The NDMTSS framework is supported through a series of professional learning and technical assistance to guide districts in creating, implementing and maintaining a multi-tiered system of supports.
