Scholarship 411

November is National Scholarship Month and CREA counselor, Megan Storbeck compiled information around scholarship requirements, links to opportunities, and tips for students to use.

Tips for Students

  1. Ask your school counselor what scholarships are available at your school.

  2. If students are interested in a specific college, contact that college and see what scholarships they have available.

  3. It doesn’t hurt to apply for scholarships, it’s FREE money! Don't be afraid to apply to scholarships that have a smaller award amount. Many local groups offer awards – they may be small, but they can add up.

  4. Double check you application for grammatical errors, correct information, and be sure you fit the scholarship's criteria.

  5. Be authentic! Don't use the same essay for multiple scholarships. Your essay needs to reflect you and your goals for each particular college scholarship
